FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do branding & web packages take?

You can expect branding to be finished within about 2 weeks for the most basic package. As for websites, there are many different variables that will determine the amount of time it will take. If everything goes smoothly, you can expect a website to take about 8 weeks. As we all know, life does happen, which can cause pause or rescheduling, so sometimes projects can take a little longer than anticipated.

Do you offer printing?

Yes I do! I include some wiggle room in all my packages to offer printing needs. I use third party vendors, or I can work with a local printer of your choosing.

I don’t know if I want to manage my site myself, could you help with that?

Sure! I offer hourly and retainer rates that would be perfect for this. If you know you’re going to be needing regular updates on your website, then a retainer might be a great option for you when we’re done.

I have an idea of what I want for a logo, how do you go about that?

This is my job, friend! I welcome ideas and preferences, they’re used for conversations and inspiration. However, the ultimate end goal is to create a visual brand that is best for the business AND the target market, which may mean straying from the original idea. This is why there’s the Brand Discovery Workbook: to provide in-depth questions and answers to create a blueprint for a brand strategy that meets needs beyond personal preference. If all that’s wanted or needed is a tool to create your design, or access to the apps/software to create your design(s), then we likely will not be a good fit.

How soon do I have to start paying?

Right when you book, you’ll need to offer a retainer fee of 25%. This solidifies your dates and helps me get going on the groundwork that’s needed for your branding. Then we start on monthly payments of $500/month until paid in full, or you can pay in full before the project is finished. If full payment is not done before we finish the project and there are consistently late payments, I do retain the right to shut down or hold any files/website access until payments are made.

What software do you use for building websites?

I primarily use Squarespace or Showit, but have worked in other platforms when needed. The reason why I choose to work this way is due to my main client list and needs. Most of my clients don’t know how to do coding nor can they afford custom built websites. So to help offer great design and access (in case I got abducted by aliens), they have access to the tools they need to keep growing their business. And they have access to a support team through the software in case I’m not available.

Is hosting included in my web package?

No, it’s not. This is something I do ask to have taken care of before we start on your web design. If you’re at a loss on how to get this set up, I’m happy to help. This would be a one time instance and a fee that would be added to your invoice. As stated in the above question – I don’t like to keep hosting mostly because … aliens… and we both have access to what you need.

What happens if my project goes beyond the scope?

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes things do go above budget and time. If this happens then I would charge my hourly rate and add it to the current invoice / payment structure. I will let you know beforehand if things seem to be getting a little over our original agreement.

I don’t have a domain name yet, how do I get one?

No problem! I suggest creating an account with GoDaddy and buying your domain as soon as you can to secure it before anyone else does. If you need help brainstorming ideas, I can offer some guidance. I like to recommend GoDaddy as they have been the easiest to work with when transferring DNS settings and domains.

What if I’m not satisfied with the final project?

This is very rare, but in the event that something just isn’t clicking – you do have the option to cancel our contract and pay for any work completed up to date.
