ABOUT CARL

Trends come and go, and they tend to come and go in waves. 90’s kid here, and I’m noticing lots of y2k vibes making a come back along with those infamous white wash mom jeans. Some things I love, some things can stay in the past (like those dang low riders).

So how do you keep your brand from feeling like it’s out of style or just in a trending cycle? The best way to do that is to make sure that your brand is built on strategy, not just vibes and the mood of the day. Another way is to just make some small changes to your brand without losing its whole identity. Make it so it still feels true to your brand, aligns with your strategy and connects with the right people. Here are some quick Marie Kondo tips to spark some joy and spring clean your brand

1. Logo Check: Is It Still Serving Looks?

Your logo is the face of your brand. If it’s giving off “vintage” vibes (and not in a chic way), it might be time for a refresh. Ensure it’s scalable, versatile, and still aligns with your brand’s essence

2. Color Palette: Freshen Up Those Hues

Colors can make or break a space, a brand and connection. They also convey emotions. Check to see if your current palette still resonates with your audience and reflects your brand’s personality. Maybe it’s time to introduce a new accent color to keep things lively, or just adjust one to be a little brighter or darker for accessibility and contrast.

3. Typography: Speak the Right Language

My friend, fonts play a bigger role than you might give them credit for. If you wanna be taken seriously in a muti-million dollar board room but you’re using papyrus or comic sans, you’re gonna sound like a child or a dinosaur. Your fonts reflect how your brand talks. Whether its play, professional or somewhere in between, make sure it sets the proper tone and that it’s legible.

4. Imagery & Graphics: Update Your Visual Storytelling

Review your stock of images and graphics. Do they still align with your brand identity and current marketing goals? Consider sourcing new visuals that better represent your brand’s evolution.

5. Website Walkthrough: Ensure a Seamless Experience

Put on some first-time visitor glasses and review your website, or give your URL to someone new and have them explore it so they can give you some notes. Does your brand story make sense? Is it easy to navigate? Can they tell what you actually do? Do they know what they’re supposed to do on your website?

6. Social Media Sweep: Keep It Cohesive

Update profile pictures, banners, and cover images to reflect your refreshed brand. Archive posts that no longer fit your brand’s direction. Consistency across platforms builds trust.

7. Email Signature: Make Every Interaction Count

Don’t forget about this bad boy! Your email signature can hold a lot of power. Make sure it has your current contact info, a current headshot, updated colors and of course any call to actions to help build your brand, offers and campaigns.
